An event (in-person and online) co-organized by our association and the BKRG (Belgium Korean Rights Group)
How to navigate through existing data, institutions, and systems in the search for your origins.
The event is accessible either in person in Brussels or remotely via live video conference.
1. General presentation
This information session is aimed at anyone engaged in a search for origins, personal history research, or wishing to better understand the administrative and archival workings.
Together with Kimura Byol, we will methodically and concretely address the key steps to overcome the complexity of institutional systems, identify the right documentary sources, and assert one's rights to access records. The session will particularly draw on the experience gained through the processes conducted with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).
2. Two modes of participation
In person (Brussels):
Welcoming in a friendly and intimate setting. Discussions continue around an informal moment.
Strictly limited capacity to 20 places.
Online (Remote):
Follow the presentation and participate in the live Q&A session from home via videoconference.
Free and unlimited access, the connection link will be sent to you after your registration.

Kimura Byol
Artist, activist, and archivist, Kimura Byol has been working for several decades on issues of international adoption, identity, diaspora, and collective memory. Through pioneering engagement, active involvement in investigations related to the TRC (Truth and Reconciliation Commission), and in-depth knowledge of administrative circuits, Kimura Byol shares here some methodological tools to effectively guide the search for origins.

Should specific documents be brought?
It is not mandatory to bring your personal file. Just bring a notebook and something to write with to record the methods, documentary sources, and shared references.
What to do in case of an impediment?
