Visa for Adopted
DNA Test
The Korean government helps Korean adoptees find their biological families by organizing a DNA test. This is free and can be conducted at Korean consulates around the world.
Certain conditions: the adoptee must always want to search for his or her family, and the adoption documents may not contain any other means to find the family (this means that if your file contains a last name, you can find your family without a DNA test).
You can download the files here [documents in English]:
[Request form] Certificate for genetic test.
Form-Personal-Information-Collection-and-Usage-Agreement-210803-1.
Fill out the 2 documents in English + a copy of your ID + child's photo (optional) + a copy of your adoption file (only 1 or 2 main pages). Send everything to the email address familysearch@ncrc.or.kr
Note: in the "Submit to" field, indicate "Embassy in Belgium".
The NCRC agency will then inform you if you are eligible to take the DNA test and will notify the consulate you have chosen, which will invite you to come to its office. The test lasts 30 minutes, and the consulate staff generally speak French and Dutch.
